Contessa Blue draws from a diverse catalog influenced by the legends of Blues, R&B, Soul, and Jazz. Some of their many influences include Steely Dan, Amy Winehouse, The Rolling Stones, Etta James, and more! The Phoenix-based trio delivers an inspired blend of carefully crafted originals and crowd-pleasing favorites. Contessa Blue is fronted by the powerhouse vocals of Tarah Oliver and features pianist/acoustic guitarist David Robert Anderson and electric guitarist Chris Sabbarese.
Contessa Blue records, mixes, and masters their original music at David Robert Anderson's studio, Cozettas Recording Studio, located in Gilbert, Arizona. Originally from Chicago, vocalist Tarah Oliver is influenced by pop/rock/alternative, R&B, soul, and jazz. While paying homage to her musical heroes, she makes every song her own with her unique and compelling vocal delivery. In addition to performing live with Contessa Blue, Tarah is a recording artist who lends her considerable vocal talents to numerous studio projects throughout the Phoenix metro area.
David Robert Anderson
Originally from the Washington, D.C. area, David Robert Anderson is a classically trained multi-instrumentalist and vocalist. He has performed throughout the United States with groups that span the genres of pop/rock, jazz, and country. In addition, he is a songwriter who is published through Washington Street Publishing, SoStereo, and A Matter of Music. He writes for Contessa Blue and other recording artists. Contributing piano, electric and acoustic guitar, and vocals, David provides the essential musical foundation for Contessa Blue.
Originally from Brooklyn, NY, guitarist Chris Sabbarese studied privately with acclaimed jazz guitarist Bill Frisell before moving to Boston to study at the Berklee College of Music as a jazz composition major. Gigs in NYC have included performances with Dizzy Gillespie and other jazz luminaries. A resident of Arizona since 2009, Chris maintains a busy performance schedule as an in-demand freelance artist performing with jazz, R&B, and rock groups.
